Ozway immigration holiday notice:

Due to the public holiday of Friday before the AFL Grand Final, Ozway immigrants will have a day off on September 24th this Friday, and will go to work as usual from September 27th next Monday. Australian-Chinese immigrants wish everyone a happy holiday!

China has become Australia's largest source of immigrants in the 2020-01-21 fiscal year

Recently, the Australian Department of Home Affairs released the 2020-21 Immigration Plan Report. This report provides information on the development of the non-humanitarian permanent immigration program managed by the Department of Home Affairs as of June 30, 2021. It can be seen from the report that China has become a top Australia's largest source of immigration in 2018.

The 2020-21 immigration plan is divided into four parts:

Skilled Migration: Aims to increase economic productivity and fill skills shortages in the labor market;

Family visa: mainly composed of spouse and parent immigration;

Special Eligibility Visas: includes those visas that are not eligible for other visas in exceptional circumstances, including PRs returning after a period of absence;

Child visa: Provides immigration channels for children of Australian citizens and PRs, and changes due to demand

02 The proportion of skilled immigrants has decreased, and the proportion of family immigrants has increased

In the 2020-21 financial year, 160,052 places were awarded under the Australian Permanent Migration Program. Among them, a total of 79,620 places were issued for skilled immigrants, 77,372 places for "family" visas, 54 places for special eligibility visas and 3,006 places for children. Since the epidemic, the proportion of immigrants in Australia has basically changed from two-thirds of skilled immigrants and one-third of family immigrants to about 50% each.

03 Three priority visa categories

In 2020-21, Australian immigration will focus on visa categories that will help Australia's economic recovery post-pandemic, prioritizing visa categories that drive economic growth, job creation and investment in Australia.

The three priority categories are:

Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP)

Global Talent Initiative (GTI)

Employer Guarantee Scheme

Visa processing focuses on onshore applicants and key occupation applicants. Among skilled migrants for the 2020-21 fiscal year, 71.2 per cent of applicants were onshore.

Among skilled immigrants: 23,503 (29.5%) sponsored by employers, 7,213 (9%) independent skilled immigrants, and 13,585 (17%) sponsored by the state.

04 Business Innovation and Investment Immigration (BIIP)

In fiscal year 2020-21, the State Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) offered 11,198 places and the actual number of applicants increased by 0.5%, as of June 30, 2021, the number of applicants increased from 31,661 on June 30, 2020 to 31,813 people.

05 Other visa categories

family visa

This report shows 77,372 family-class visas, accounting for 49.3% of the total 2020-21 immigration plan results (excluding children).

As of June 30, 2021, spouse immigrants issued 72,376 (nearly double the 37,118 issued in the previous fiscal year), representing 93.5% of the 2020-21 "Family" category; parent immigrants issued 4,500, of which paying parents Immigrants and non-paying parent immigrants, 3,600 and 900, respectively; other "family" categories of immigrants issued a total of 496.

As of June 30, 2021:

The number of spouse immigration applications was 64,111, a decrease of 33.4% from the previous year.

The number of applications from the parent category was 114,359, an increase of 5.2% over the previous year.

The number of applications in the other "family" category was 8,712, a decrease of 0.8% from the previous year.

It can be seen that spouse immigrants account for a large proportion of family immigrant visas. Not only does the quota maintain a high quota, but the Immigration Bureau has made it clear that it will continue to process the backlog of applications, especially domestically.

06 Distribution of skilled immigration quotas

Among skilled migrants, 23,503 places (29.5%) were granted under the employer sponsorship category, 7,213 (9.1%) under the independent skilled migrant category, and 13,585 (17.1%) under the state sponsorship category.

Registered nurses have the largest number of nominated occupations, with 3,670, higher than all other occupations:

From the perspective of the overall invited occupations, the number of visa approvals for popular immigration majors such as nursing, ICT, engineering, and accounting still maintains a relatively high level.
